4 Signs Your Body is Too Acidic and How to Fix it!

The pH scale is used to specify the acidity or alkalinity of an aqueous solution like our body. The pH values of our organs are highly important – some need to be acidic, while others need to remain alkaline in order to function properly. In general, the body should be slightly alkaline, but this rarely happens anymore due to our unhealthy diet and habits. Checking if your body as acidic is pretty simple and can be done with the help of the pH scale.



The pH scale goes from 0-14, with 7 being the neutral value. Your pH value can be done by checking your blood with a pH strip or measuring your internal temperature.

Here are the main symptoms of an acidic body:

Bone weakness

When the body becomes too acidic, it tries to fix itself by taking alkali from the bones and other tissues. The problem doesn’t manifest through specific symptoms, but you may experience weakness in the bones, and you may become more prone to fractures. This is why osteoporosis patients are advised against frequent consumption of coffee and other acidic foods and drinks.

Excess weight

In cases of an acidic body, the pancreas will raise the insulin production which will result in accumulation of fat. The body needs to be slightly alkaline to function properly and to burn fat, so if you’re not able to lose weight, you need to raise the alkalinity of your body.

Sleeping disorders

Insomnia is a common problem for a big part of the world’s population, and one of the main reasons for it is increased body acidity. As we mentioned before, the body takes calcium and other alkali from the bones and other tissues to reduce the acidity, and lack of calcium in the body has been associated with increased body acidity.

Tooth sensitivity

According to one study, an acidic body is definitely one of the main symptoms of reduced tooth enamel and tooth sensitivity. If your teeth are sensitive to hot and cold, you may be suffering from an acidic body.

You can alkalize your body by eating a healthy diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables such as broccoli, soybeans, raisins, tofu, zucchinis, spinach, collard greens, kale, legumes and nuts and seeds. In order to prevent your body from turning acidic, avoid consuming processed and junk foods as well as caffeine, dairy products, red meat, eggs and most grains.

To fight the acidity in your body, you can also make a mixture of baking soda, ACV and water that can help. Simply mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, 1/3 tablespoon of baking soda and 8 oz. of water and drink the solution to alkalize your body.
